Continuing Legal Education EEOC’s New Guidance Regarding Harassment in the Workplace
To Register click here. On April 29, 2024, twenty-five years after the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) last released guidance on workplace harassment, the EEOC published an update. The new guidance provides best practices for preventing and remedying harassment, clarifies recent developments in the law, and addresses issues raised by the modern workplace. Federal discrimination laws protect employees from harassment based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth or related medical conditions, sexual orientation, and gender identity), disability, age (40 or older), or genetic information. Employment attorneys Iryll Robbins-Umel and Tiffany Alvoid-Overton will highlight major updates in the EEOC’s recent guidance on how to evaluate whether harassment violates federal EEO law. They will also provide practice tips for attorneys working on preventing and/or remedying harassment.
